The one where we lose on price

Connecteam starts at $29 a month for up to thirty people. Over three years that is around a thousand dollars against our nearly three - and it also does rotas, a time clock and payroll, which we do not. If price and shift management are what matter, buy Connecteam.

In short

Connecteam is a workforce app covering scheduling, time tracking, checklists, chat and task management, from $29 a month for the first thirty users on annual billing plus $3 for each additional user - roughly $1,044 over three years. Bosun costs $1,999 once plus running costs, around $2,899 over the same period. Connecteam is cheaper and broader. Bosun's advantages are narrower and specific: staff install nothing, it answers questions from your own written procedures with citations, it runs on your own server, and it carries your brand.

Three reasons to choose them instead

We would rather you bought the right thing than bought ours. If any of these three describes your business, Connecteam is the better purchase and the price difference is the smallest part of why.

Rotas in particular are worth being blunt about: if your daily problem is who is working which shift, Bosun does not address it at all, and no amount of task tracking substitutes.

  • You need rotas or a time clock. Shifts, hours, attendance and payroll exports - Bosun does none of it, and is not going to.
  • Price is the deciding factor. A thousand dollars against nearly three thousand over three years is a real gap, and a small business is right to care.
  • You want it hosted. No server, no backups, no patching. Somebody else's problem, included in the price.

The deciding question

Will staff open an app
Then Connecteam
They will not

Need procedure answers

The narrow case where we are better

Our advantage comes down to one thing with consequences: your staff do not install anything. Every workforce app, Connecteam included, depends on people downloading it, logging in and opening it. For office teams that is fine. For technicians, kitchen staff and field engineers it is where adoption quietly dies - and a workforce app nobody opens is worse value than a more expensive tool everybody uses.

The second advantage is the procedures. Bosun answers a staff question from your own written documents and names the source, refusing what is not written down. That is genuinely different from hosting a document library people could read if they chose to.

  • Nothing for staff to install, log into or update - they use WhatsApp
  • Answers questions from your own procedures, with the figure quoted and the document named
  • Tells you which questions your procedures fail to answer, ranked by how often they were asked
  • Runs on your server, under your brand, with the source code yours
  • No per-user cost at all, above or below thirty people
Why this page exists

We could have left this out

Connecteam beats us on the two numbers buyers check first, so the commercially sensible move is to not have this page. We wrote it because you would find them anyway, and discovering an omission like this after a sales call is worse for us than admitting it upfront.

It is also the standard we apply everywhere else on the site: figures sourced and dated, limits stated, no testimonials we did not receive. If that reads as unusual for a software site, that is the point.

  • Every competitor price here comes from their own page, linked below
  • We name what we do not do, on the feature pages as well as here
  • There are no invented reviews or logos anywhere on this site
  • If a figure is wrong, tell us and it gets corrected with the date changed

On this page

Honestly, which should I buy?

Ask whether your staff will reliably open an app. If they will, Connecteam is cheaper and does more - buy it. If you have already watched an app die on your team, that is what Bosun is for, and it is worth the difference.

Can I use both?

Some do - Connecteam for rotas and hours, Bosun for the work and the procedures. Two bills, but they genuinely do not overlap much.

Will you match their price?

No. We are more expensive over three years and the page says so. What we will do is tell you before you buy if we think you are buying the wrong thing.
