The chasing, done without you
Overdue work is reminded to the person, not announced to the group. After the number of attempts you choose, it stops reminding them and tells you instead - because a tool that nags forever gets muted.
Automatic follow-up means the software chases overdue work instead of a manager doing it. Bosun messages the person whose job is late, privately, at intervals you set, within your working hours. After a set number of attempts it stops messaging them and escalates to the owner, because continuing to remind somebody who has not responded is how an assistant gets muted.

What happens when a job goes late

It passes its deadline
Only jobs with a stated deadline are chased. Undated work appears in the owner's list instead of being invented a due date.

The person is reminded
A private message, naming the job and its reference, inside your working hours.

Reminded again, at your interval
Escalating gaps you control. Each attempt is recorded, so you can see who needed chasing.

It stops and tells the owner
After your chosen number of attempts, the person is left alone and the owner is told once. Nobody is chased indefinitely.

What it will not do
Most of the design work in follow-up went into restraint. An assistant that messages people at nine at night, or fifteen times about the same job, gets muted within a week - and a muted assistant is worse than no assistant, because the owner still thinks it is working.
So the limits are built in and you control them. None of this is a setting we hope you find; it is the default behaviour.

Will my staff find it annoying?
That was the main risk, and the limits above exist because of it. It messages privately, only about their own work, only inside working hours, and only a set number of times. After that it leaves them alone.
Can I change how often it chases?
Yes - the intervals, the number of attempts and the working hours are all settings in the admin, changed by you at any time without us.
What if somebody is on holiday?
Mark them inactive in the admin and they stop receiving anything immediately. Their jobs stay on the list, visible to the owner for reassigning.
