Your rules, answered exactly
"What is my approval limit for parts?" The answer comes from your own document, with the figure quoted as written and the source named. Ask something your procedures do not cover and it says so, rather than inventing a policy.

Bosun answers staff questions using only the documents the business has uploaded - its approval limits, processes and standards. Every figure is quoted exactly as written, and every grounded answer names the document it came from so the reader can check it. When the procedures do not cover a question, it says so plainly, records the question for the owner, and does not fill the gap with general industry practice.

The rules it answers under
Only from your documents
If a number is not in your procedures, it does not know it. General industry practice is never substituted.
Figures quoted exactly
No rounding, no converting, no paraphrasing a threshold. $1,001 is not "about a thousand".
Always cited
Every grounded answer ends by naming the document, so a staff member can check it against the page.
Refuses the rest
"Our procedures don't cover that, I've flagged it for the owner" is the correct answer, and a far better one than a plausible guess.
Records what it could not answer
Every refused question is collected and counted, so you see what your staff need written down.
Answers partly, honestly
Where your documents cover half a question, it answers that half and names what is missing.
Asked, and not covered
- How many days holiday?
- asked 3x
- Policy on parking permits?
- asked 2x
- How long should recon take?
- asked 2x
- Who signs off overtime?
- asked 1x
- What is my approval limit?
- answered
The list of what nobody wrote down
Most businesses assume their procedures are roughly complete. Within a week of switching Bosun on, the Procedures screen shows a ranked list of the questions staff actually asked that no document answered - with how many times each was asked.
Owners consistently find this more useful than they expected. It turns "we should write things down properly one day" into a specific list, ordered by what is actually costing people time, and it comes from real questions rather than from guessing what a handbook ought to contain.
- Every unanswered question, recorded verbatim
- Counted rather than duplicated, so the common ones rise to the top
- Marked resolved once you add the document that answers it
- Usually three or four pages of writing closes most of the list

What document formats can I upload?
Markdown and plain text work directly, and we convert your existing Word files or PDFs during setup. Headings matter more than formatting - a document with clear sections answers better than one long page.
How do I know it is not making things up?
Every grounded answer cites the document it came from, so any answer can be checked in seconds. Before each release, every money figure the assistant produces in testing is verified to appear verbatim in the source documents.
What if two documents disagree?
It answers from what it finds and cites the source, which surfaces the contradiction to a human rather than silently picking one. That is usually a document problem worth knowing about.
Can I update procedures myself?
Yes. Add or edit a document in the dashboard and it is re-indexed immediately. No developer, no re-deployment.
