A team you never see
Your people start at a site, finish at another, and the only time you hear what happened is if they think to ring. Every field service app solves this by asking them to install something - which is why most of them are uninstalled by month two.

For a trades or field service team, Bosun works entirely through WhatsApp, so engineers report from a van or a site on the phone they already carry. They send what they are doing at the start of the day and what happened at the end, in their own words; the office gets a live picture without ringing round, and anything blocked on a part, an access problem or a customer decision is flagged the same day.

What an engineer sends
- Start of day
- The three jobs they are doing
- From site
- "Need parts for the Hendon job"
- End of day
- What is done, what is stuck
- If late
- A private reminder
- Anything else
- Nothing
The install is the whole problem
Field service software is not hard to buy; it is hard to keep alive. The engineer has to install it, log in, remember the password, keep it updated and open it while standing in somebody's loft. Two weeks in, they have gone back to ringing the office, and the software you are paying for shows an empty week.
Bosun removes that step completely. There is nothing to install because the engineer uses WhatsApp, which is already on their phone and already open. That is not a convenience - it is the difference between a tool that gets used and one that does not.
- No app, no login, no password reset call to the office
- Works on whatever phone they have, including their own
- No update to push when somebody is on site with no signal
- A new starter is added in the admin and working the same hour
- No per-engineer licence, so a busy month costs nothing extra
A picture without ringing round
The day, live
What each engineer said they were doing, and what they have reported since.
What is stuck
Blocked on a part, on access, on a customer decision - with the reason in their words.
What is late
Chased privately first, escalated to the office when reminding stops working.
Who is carrying what
Load per engineer, so tomorrow is planned against reality rather than a guess.
Procedure questions
"What do we charge for an out-of-hours call?" answered from your own rate card, quoted exactly.
How the week went
Jobs closed against created, time to close, and how much of the week was lost to blocked work.

It is not a scheduling system
Bosun tracks what your engineers said they would do and whether they did it. It does not plan routes, it does not optimise a day across a map, it does not hold a parts catalogue and it does not raise invoices.
If route optimisation is the thing costing you money, buy software for that. If the thing costing you money is not knowing what happened yesterday, this is the cheaper answer - and it will still be running when a per-engineer subscription has quietly doubled.
- No route planning or map optimisation
- No parts catalogue or stock levels
- No quoting or invoicing
- No photographs or signatures captured from site - yet
- What it does do is tell you the truth about yesterday, every day
From nothing to running, in about a week

You send one message
Your team gets told the number exists and what to send it. There is no training session, because there is nothing to teach.

Do engineers need a company phone?
No. It works on whatever phone has WhatsApp, including their own - which is why there is nothing to roll out. Whether you want work on personal phones is your policy call, not a technical limit.
What about no signal on site?
WhatsApp queues the message and sends it when they have signal again, exactly as it does for their personal messages. Nothing is lost, and the assistant processes it whenever it arrives.
Can they send photos from site?
Yes. A photo is kept and attached to the job that message created, so the picture of the finished work sits on the job about it. Voice notes are transcribed and handled like any typed message, which is usually what a van actually sends. What it does not do is interpret the photo; a person still looks at it. If photo capture matters to you, say so - it is a reasonable thing to add and we would rather know it is wanted.
How many engineers can it handle?
Comfortably fifty on the smallest server, and the price does not change at any number. Beyond that, tell us the shape and we will be honest about what needs testing first.
